Depending on the host country for the Internship and your academic circumstances - it could range between 1 and 24 months
We do not offer housing but depending on the location, transportation support might be provided to interns.
Abbott in Europe hires for Interns all year round depending on the country that requires the Internship
Yes, interns must be currently enrolled in a university program, and must be eligible to work in the EMEA Region without requiring sponorship by Abbott both during their internship and upon graduation. Interns must be geographically mobile and must be returning to school for at least one semester following their internship. It is also possible in some countries to have an internship at the end of/directly after studies or between bachelor and master studies
Travel might be required only for some internship assignments. One of our internship requirements is that students are geographically mobile, as we do have assignment opportunities throughout EMEA Region and students may have to travel to their assignment location if they are assigned to a location other than their permanent address.
We do not reimburse for mileage to and from work.
Once interns apply for a posted position within their interest areas and preferred location via our job board, they are matched to their assignment based on their skill set and major.
We do not negotiate intern payrate as it is set based on your functional area and graduation year.
We look for students who have good communication skills, students who exhibit strong leadership skills, are flexible and adaptable, detail orientation and strong decision making skills.
Abbott does offer Career Development Sessions throughout the period of an Interns assignment in the business
The best way to stand our during your internship is to have a positive attitude, be open to doing new and exciting projects during your internship, establish a good network during your internship and a good relationship with your manager and team.
A recruiter will review your application and reach out to you should you meet the requirements for the internship position.
Start and end dates are dependent on the country to which you are applying, but all will be listed on the job descriptions
Absolutely! Students report out on their projects over the course of the summer or during any events organized for interns locally in countries.
There may be another student partnering with you during your internship, however, typically each intern is responsible for their own project.
Abbott offers multiple networking opportunities for students during their internship. Students are able to network with other students, Professional Development Program Members, as well as other colleagues from entry level up to Abbott's most Senior Leaders.
Most Interns are required to work typical office hours for the country in which they are based.
Interns are paid on a monthly basis.
Internship offers are not necessarily given specifically within the division where a student completed an internship. An offer could come from any division.
If you join one of Abbott's Virtual Information Sessions at the European Virtual Career Fair, you will be able to hear from a previous intern about their experience.
Internship interviews are either conducted on-campus following the university career fairs where Abbott is present or students are requested to complete our digital interview.
The interview will be a behavorial interview and in some countries, case studies might also be included into the selection process.
We hire for Interns right across the EMEA Region
During your internship, you will be focused on your internship assignment. In some cases, you may be able to receive cross-divisional experience, but as far as the assignment, it will be focused on business priorities within your division.
The internship will give students an opportunity to network and gain experience for full-time positions within Abbott upon graduation but does not guarantee a full-time opportunity.
Abbott's internship program focuses on both technical skill and professional development.
Interns work both independently and also as part of a team during their internship.
Abbott's Intern program is very competitive, and we encourage you to take time to tailor your application to the business and prepare thoroughly for any interviews.
